Bristell Heads to the Middle East: New Dealer in the Region, Next Stop Dubai Air Show and Riyadh

A hangar in the middle of the desert, 60 km from Doha, temperatures exceeding 30°C, and a two-day intensive program. Our factory specialists from Kunovice have just completed training for mechanics and pilots at Aviation Home – our new dealer for the GCC region. You’ll see the results next week at Dubai Air Show 2025, where Aviation Home will showcase the Bristell B23 915 IFR. Right after Dubai, the aircraft will head to Sand n Fun in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Czech Know-How in Desert Conditions

“An airfield in the middle of the desert, 60 km from Doha – you immediately understand that aviation here is something completely different from Europe,” says Petr Mitáš, factory pilot-instructor who led our three-person specialist team including mechanics. They spent two working days at Aviation Home’s hangar, training local teams on the Bristell LSA and B23.

The official opening ceremony was attended by a representative of the Czech Embassy in Qatar, underlining the strategic importance of this expansion for Czech aviation technology in the region.

The program was packed – from theoretical briefings through hands-on maintenance to flight hours in the air. While Mitáš flew with pilots, going through the specifics of Bristell’s sensitive control handling, our mechanics broke down the construction, electrical systems including the Rotax 912 iS, Rotax 915 iS, and avionics software. “The teams from Aviation Home and Jazeera Aviation Club were perfectly prepared. You can see their professionalism and eagerness to learn,” Mitáš evaluates the level of trained specialists.

Why Flight Schools Choose the B23

The Bristell B23 is an ideal choice for flight schools thanks to a combination of several key features. “It’s an aircraft with modern Garmin avionics that students need to know for their future careers. It also has a constant speed propeller and robust construction – these are systems and features that pilots must master when transitioning to larger aircraft,” explains Mitáš.Another advantage is the sensitive control system, which teaches pilots precision. “When a pilot masters the B23, where every small movement of the control surfaces has an immediate response, they can handle almost anything afterward. It’s like switching from a sports car to a regular sedan – suddenly you have everything under control,” he adds with a smile.

Extreme Conditions as a Reliability Test

“An airfield in the middle of the desert, sand on the taxiways, temperatures over 30°C – you need to know how to work with that,” Mitáš describes the training conditions. In summer, temperatures in the region exceed 40°C, placing extreme demands on materials and systems.Bristell has more than a decade of reliable operation history in the Persian Gulf region. “We have customers who have been operating our aircraft in Dubai for over 10 years without problems. That’s the best proof that our construction and materials can handle these conditions,” Mitáš explains.

Aviation in Qatar – Regulation and Growth

General aviation in Qatar is still in its early stages but growing rapidly. “Unlike the Czech Republic, you can’t just take off for a ‘coffee flight.’ You must file a flight plan, everything is approved by controllers. The regulations here are much stricter,” Mitáš describes the local specifics.

Aviation Home plans to build its main base at Old Doha International Airport, just 2 km from the city center. This will create a modern hub for general aviation in Qatar with better accessibility for students and recreational pilots.

Light sport and general aviation in the region is growing – alongside traditional professional pilot training, a new trend is emerging: hourly desert flights, sightseeing, recreational flying. Aviation Home is building a school that can cover both areas.

Khalid Al-Khater, Founder of Aviation Home:

“After researching the market, I visited several manufacturers. When I saw the B23, I knew this was different – the build quality, the attention to detail, the way it handles. We’re not just buying aircraft for our school; we believe in what Bristell builds. That’s why we decided to become their dealer for the GCC region. If we’re going to put our students and our reputation behind these aircraft, we need to trust them completely. After two days with the team from Kunovice, seeing how they work and how they support their customers, I’m confident we made the right choice.”
